Job # 3 – Word Whisperer Pedro Mizrahi

Word Whisperer Pedro Mizrahi week 2

Imagery - “ But then came the day when the sky turned white, as if the sun had burst and spread its flame in the air, and the fields lay still without breath, and the dust of the road was white in the glow.” [Chapter 4] Imagery is language that causes people to imagine pictures in their mind, and since this quote helps the reader imagine that the setting this quote contains imagery. “But then came the day when the sky turned white, as if the sun had burst and spread its flame in the air.” This part of the quote only gives characteristics of the setting.

Imagery- “The head of the Golden One bowed slowly, and they stood still before us, their arms at their sides, the palms of their hands turned to us, as if their body were delivered in submission to our eyes. And we could not speak.” This quote helps the reader imagine the Golden one bowing and staying still.

Repetition- “And we have discovered it alone, and we alone are to know it.” In this quote there is the repetition of the words “and we,” I thing that the use of repetition can really attract the reader. This part really called my attention.

  1. Pedro,
You are correct. The imagery used in Anthem is definitely made to describe how things happened. I think the author chose to be this descriptive in order to have people hooked into the book and imagine it they way she wants us to imagine. This is the way the author chose to guide us into thinking the way she wants us to. It is the driving wheel of the car known as Anthem. Many books choose different ways to drive their books the way they want to, but I have never truly seen one the same way as Anthem. Do you agree? Which books have you read that are this different?

  2. Heitor,
I truly agree with you. I agree that the imagery is used to describe how things happened. and like you I think the author chose to be descriptive to have people hooked into the book and imagine it they way she wants us to imagine. I agree with this because the way that she writes has hooked me in and it makes me want to continue reading. Honestly I have never read a book like this before. I sincerely liked your comment.
