Anthem: Line Illuminator #2

Line Illuminator #2 by Julianna(Juli) Mello

Line #1: "But we think that the Council of Scholars is blind." When I read this the first thing I thought was... Wait, WHAT! They're all blind! But then I thought about it for a little bit and saw that it was written is blind not are blind. I then connected this to ignorance as the council is not listening at will or it could be not looking at will as it said blind not deaf. I found that putting my thinking into this line that is quite early in the beginning it really did change the whole meaning of Part 3 for me.

Line #2: "What name have you given us?" They looked straight into our eyes and they held their head high and they answered:
"The Unconquered." This is the line of Part 4 that I really thought was extremely strong as the Council and the Golden One feel like they should be controlling the people. I feel like this image explains what I have to say perfectly. The Council wants the people to trust and obey them, but the people know that if it came a time they would just throw them under the bus. Which is why it shows that one person is stepping on the others hand even though the entire thing is based around trust. Although this is mostly my opinion so I would like to think how you guys interpret this line.

  1. Hi Juli! I think you chose your lines and images very well. I agree with your thoughts about line #1. However, I also want to add that Equality 7-2521 was somehow looking down on the Council of Scholars, because he has found out what they do not know. Also, one thing I don't understand about line #2 is when you said the Council and the Golden One feel like they should be controlling the people. Did you mean Equality 7-2521 instead of the Golden One? Because the Golden One is Liberty 5-3000, who is the woman.
