Robert Gibbs: Illustratus artist

This photo represents the conflicts that already appear in the first two part of the book anthem. Equality 7-2721 begins to find a "dark" happiness in defying the councils rules such as not telling the council of their subway discovery or talking to people of the oposite gender out of place. During the book so far both Equality 7-2721 and international 4-8818 are breaking the rules and they don't feel any emotion they feel as if it is their nature to be curious, which it is. In th book so far we see a constant display of an extremist ideology being that everyone is one and your life does not matter because you live for your brothers. Both equality and international agree that their find is too important to throw away, so both Equality and International decided to keep the tunnel a secret.

  1. Robbie,
I really like your post, it really got me thinking about the feelings of the characters. In the book, the author uses first person, so we, as the readers, know exactly what thoughts are going through the main character's mind. I completely agree with the fact that it's their nature to be curious, but they do show emotions about the situation. Maybe it's not as obvious, but they're both in fear. International 4-8818 shows constant fear when Equality 7-2721 goes to explore the tunnel. This shows how the society they live in scares them, they are just frightened by a simple tunnel. Do you think this tunnel is going to come up again further into the book? Or do you think it's just a way for the author to show how strict the society is.

  2. I agree with the image you chose, but one thing that I can't know is if they all look the same, because we know that they can't, or at least aren't supposed to think for themselves, but I do not know if they are all the same looking, because or else there will be no way to tell them differently, so society would be a total disaster.

  3. Robbie,
I think that the image you chose is really appropriate for the topic that Anthem shows. In this society everyone was equal, equal to the law, equal to the eyes of their brothers. Therefore when you put every single person as a big “we“ all the same you are showing the metaphor that Equality 7-2521 clarifies in the book. About this special tunnel, what would you do? would you tell the authorities about it or would you keep it for yourself?
I really enjoyed your post because it makes me think further about a world were everyone is all the same, how lame would it be, even though how peaceful. Nowadays we all want a world full of peace, equality and respect for others, but how much are we willing to sacrifice to go for an extreme communist system?
    Good Job,

  5. Hey Robby,
I agree completely in relation to your statement about the extremist ideology of Equality's society. The fact that they smother scientific progress and that they raise you to feel selfless is concrete evidence to support your claim. However, I don't see how your image relate to what you stated. The image shows Many men who look exactly alike, but I don't see how it is showing that Equality is different from the rest, as that is what I understood from your text. Maybe it was clear in your head about what the picture means, since you created it, but I thought that it is too complicated to relate it to the post. Overall, however, I think that it was a good post, the way that you stated what you thought, and that you described how it was that Equality and International were different from the res.
